hi everyone. was doing some catching up on the news earlier today and came across something that really presents a cultural dilemma for our politically correct state. and since it involves golf, which i enjoy, i thought i would mention it and see what you all think. let me explain.
there is a former male swat team member suing the ladies professional golfers association (lpga) and the women’s long drive association (lda). i said former because the former male went through the process of having a sex change (transgender) and is now, legally a woman in the state of ca. and in ca it is illegal to discriminate against a transgender person. hence the lawsuits. the lpga rules require you to be a woman at birth. the lda has recently changed their rules because in 2008 said transgender woman, bringing the suit, won their championship. now she is unable to compete.
since i am not a woman involved in either the lpga or lda i really have no stake in this issue either way. i do find it amusing that all our social engineering has unintended consequence. the article i read included a picture of this “woman”…i can see why she was a former swat team member. i can see why the lda would think it unfair to have this “woman” compete with naturally born women. she may have gone through the sex change process. i do not think our sexual organs alone define us as men or women. the sexes are different emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically beyond our sexual organs, etc. this woman has the physical size, musculature, and strength that goes with being born a man. declaring her a legal woman does not change that fact. i do not know the conclusion to this dilemma, but i find it amusing. men and women are equal, but they are not the same, and social engineering will not change this. love to hear your thoughts, and any solutions you can think of. i will link my face book page to the article in case you are interested.
