since it is shark week…and since my friend tim just loves sharks…i thought i might share the latest research. turns out there is a strong familial bond between shark families. this was discovered as they did research into shark attacks. what is amazing is how they found this out.
turns out the researchers stumbled upon a father shark teaching his son shark how to attack. they were swimming along off the coast and came upon the scene of a plane crash with 3 survivors. since the young shark had never attacked anyone, the father shark explained what needed to be done. the father explained the process begins by slowly swimming around the intended victims (about 3 times), staying about 50 feet out, and showing only the top 3 inches of their fin.
step 2 they would move in to about 40 feet, again swim slowly around them 3 times, but now they would show half their fin and the top few inchs of their tail.
after this they would move into about 25 feet, show all their fin, most of their tail, and slowly swim around them 3 times.
the final step was the actual attack where the survivors were eaten in short order.
as the sharks were swimming away the young son asked his father why they followed that particular strategy. i mean, the people were totally vulnerable, they could have just attacked and been done with it.
but the wise father explained to his impatient son, he really should follow that procedure every time because everyone knows humans taste better after you scare the crap out of them.
you know you’re smiling! and that’s the point. blessings, vince
